I'm one in a million!

A typical school for street orphans, 7 years old and up. You can see the hope in the eyes of the two girls looking at the camera. But look around at the “ZIP” stimulation, no pictures on the walls, no books, no nothing, and the teacher looks bored. We will change all that! Educational posters, books that excite and help to learn, a cubby hole built on the wall for each child with their name on it. Right now, they have no place that is their own, no place for their stuff. They are double orphans. They have no home. But at our school they will have their own permanent space, giving them pride and accountability. If you haven’t finished a book, put it in your cubby hole for next time. If you found a rock you like, put it in your space for your stuff.

How would your children, nieces/nephews or grandchildren thrive in this environment? If the answer is “not well” please take a moment and donate the cost of a cab ride, a lobster meal instead of a hamburger, a paperback book instead of hard cover. Thank you!

Most street orphans do not go to school They are Hungry, tired, forced to beg for food and work, to care for younger siblings, and die young.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”

Double orphans, children who have lost both parents to AIDS, are common to see. A young child, desperately needing parents themselves, forced to become a mother or father to a younger brother or sister. They smile and never complain. It is as though they think they are lucky.

Think of who you know, age 7 or so, who should be able to handle being the parent to younger siblings. If this makes you feel sad, please
